Resources, Revolution and Repression: A Theoretical Perspective
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper investigates resources-related conicts in a small open economy through a game-theoretic approach. By endogenising the regime-switching mechanism, it models revolution and repression as the elite-civilian competition for control over resources, which is constrained by the opportunity costs of natural resources and labour. It shows that higher world resource prices tend to trigger conicts, and conicts drive the economy away from socially optimal outcomes.. Keywords: Resources-Related Conicts, Nash Equilibrium, Resource Curse JEL Classi cation: F43, O13, Q34 I am grateful to Prof. Warwick Mckibbin, Dr. Timothy Kam, Dr. Akihito Asano and Dr. Junsang Lee for their advice on developing the model. Special thanks go to Dr. Renee Fry for her help with my research.
